HCG Diet

Today is Monday, September 28th and I'm totally loving life! Okay it sucks that I don't get to enjoy the foods I normally do but because I've been sticking to this strict diet, I've been able to lose a total of 23 lbs so far since September 3rd! My mom found a recipe for homemade Chili which we made with Veal. It is very yummy and I'll be having the left overs for lunch today.

So we will be doing this very low calorie diet for 2 more weeks and then we will start to add more foods. I'm excited for the fruits and veggies I'll be able to snack on! The calorie count will go from roughly 500 to 1500 so I'll be eating about 6 times a day. 3 meals and 3 snacks. Thankfully milk is allowed on the 1500 calorie diet so I'll be able to have my daily calcium instead of having to take horse size pills. I'm so happy that I've been able to find a diet that has worked for me. I would reccommend this diet to anyone that has the will power and the support because believe me, it's a tough diet to stick to. But as long as you stick to it and keep your goal in sight, you'll be able to succeed.

One last note, my mom has to switch to the shots which are stronger than the drops I've been taking and she's started to lose weight again. She hadn't lost weight for probably a week then went to the shots and now she's losing weight. I'm so glad to have her doing this diet with me. I'm sure I would have given up a long time ago if she wasn't supporting me through this. I also want to thank everyone that has been so supportive and given me words of encouragment. It means more to me than you know! I'll update you again later. :)

HCG Diet

Here is yet another update:

This morning I woke up really early and I went and weighed myself. WHOOHOO! down a pound so the total is at 19. After seeing the loss of another pound, I took my drops and went back to bed since it was my day off. For lunch I had Tuna and salsa with Celery and strawberries with stivia. It was very yummy. For dinner I made some chicken with a Steak seasoning and Chili Powder over lettuce with Apple Cider Vinegar dressing and an apple. Very tasty. I'm not sure what I'm going to take for lunch tomorrow. Probably Tuna again or maybe some chicken. Who knows. I'll keep you all updated on how I'm doing. :)

HCG Diet

Here's an update:

This morning I woke up thinking that I'd be another pound down on the scale but instead of a pound down, I was up 2 pounds!! How did this happen? I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why and I can only think of 1 reason. Last night I didn't eat dinner until 7:30 when it suggests that you eat dinner before 6. I don't see it being anything I ate because I haven't eaten anything not allowed on the diet. *shrug* Who knows. I just hope that tomorrow I will be down at least 1 more pound. Thanks for all the support and again, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!!

HCG Diet

Okay, so I'm sure you all (or at least most of you) have heard of the HCG diet. HCG is a hormone found in women when they are pregnant. This hormone has been used for over 50 years in dieting to help not only women but men as well. HCG can be administered as shots or as drops under the tongue. Since I shiver at the thought of needles, I decided to give the drops a try. I started the drops on Sept 3rd so I'm on day 17 and so far I've lost 19 lbs! I thought I'd start a blog and document my success and struggles through out this diet. My goal is to lose 100 lbs. I'm hoping to be able to be down by March '10 but we will see how well that works.

The first 2 days of the drops I was able to eat anything and everything I wanted since the HCG takes 3 days before it becomes active in your body. Starting the 3rd day I started the Very Low Calorie Diet (vlcd). I can drink all the tea and water I'd like however I have to limit the food I take in. I can eat Chicken, Veal, Beef (lean), turkey, shrimp and white fish. I'm allowed to have 100g or 3.5 oz. of meat, 1 veggie, 1 fruit and a bread stick/melba toast. Fruits and veggies are limited. Apples, strawberries, grapefruit, and oranges are the 4 fruits allowed. spinach, chard, beet greens, lettuce of any kind, tomatoes, celery, fennel, white, yellow or red onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, and cabbage are the veggies allowed. They say to not mix vegetables in the same meal as it slows the results of weight loss.

There are a lot of different recipes online so although the food is limited, there are a lot of options since seasonings are allowed. Today I will be having a chicken over lettuce with salsa. Oh it sounds so yummy! That will cover my meat and veggie and since I've already had an apple this morning, I will just add a melba toast to my delicious lunch. I'm sure I'll be having dinner at my mom's so who knows what we will be having tonight.

Every morning I have been so excited to step on the scale and every morning I've lost at least 1 lb. Sometimes even a pound and a half! I have another 28 days on the drops and then I'll start the maintenance phase which I will be eating more foods until Thanksgiving. I will keep you updated as often as I can. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
